Kate

She left her old life down that tired road
Cause she’s so scared of slowing down
The pavement’s back under her feet again
She haunts the corners of this town

She remembers when her daddy would be right there
He used to call his princess “Kate”
Said “baby always do what’s right”
But now it feels like it’s too late for Kate

She is free tonight
We are free tonight
I know we’ll feel alright
When we make love tonight

Below the red moonlight one Saturday
We turned and twisted through the night
And in the morning smoking cigarettes
We sat in bed and laughed at life

She’d been through all the boys in Hollywood
And they would call her by her name “Kate”
She said she didn’t care for movie stars
Because we all die just the same

She is free tonight
We are free tonight
I know we’ll feel alright
When we make love tonight
